More progress for Marinescu on challenging Rockingham weekend

Who is Alexandra?

Alexandra, THE PILOT

Eighteen-year-old Alexandra Marinescu is the first Romanian female single-seater driver and one of the few girls competing in global motorsport.

She started her racing career in karting at the age of nine – in 2009 – and moved to sports car racing only four years later.

Alexandra stepped up to the Formula 4 category in 2015, when for the first time the series allowed 15-year-old drivers to compete in the championship, due to a change in its age regulations.

Formula 4

Formula 4 British Championship is Britain’s official version of the FIA’s Formula 4 concept. It is the leading junior championship in the UK and the most competitive junior category single-seater championship in the world.

The 2017 season kicks off in early April and visits all of the UK’s leading race circuits. The championship will be contested over 30 races as the sole single seater support series to the UK’s premier motorsport package, the British Touring Car Championship.

Formula 4 cars have 1.6 litre Ford EcoBoost engines, tuned to deliver the FIA’s maximum permitted of 160 PS. They are equipped with carbon fibre monocoque chassis produced by Mygale and feature 6-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shift.
